What is GOALIES EYE? 

GOALIES EYE is a three dimensional goaltender training tool that can be used by both coaches and players to dramatically improve a goaltender’s performance. With the use of laser like technology Goalies Eye helps train the goaltender’s muscle memory to improve two fundamental goaltending skills — positioning in the net & reaction time to the play.

Benefits

Currently there is great interest in teaching goaltending technique, however few effective training aids are available to assist coaches in analyzing proper body positioning. GOALIES EYE “looks” at the net from the point of view of the puck. It “sees” the three dimensional space of two different triangles - from the puck to posts and the puck to goal line and crossbar. From these parameters, it “reads” the open areas of net and “writes” an image of that area to a screen for the player and coach to immediately assess.

ShadowGRAPH 

This image is called a ShadowGRAPH™ and it appears on the screen directly in front of the player immediately after a drill. The ShadowGRAPH is an image of the “negative space” that appears in the open areas of net around the goalie. In addition, Goalies Eye will tell the player and coach the percentage of net covered as well as reaction time to the puck in hundredth of seconds.

From this information the player can make the necessary adjustments to their position and improve their speed and reaction to the play. The coach can set and adjust all the aspects of the training regimen from drill and recovery time to number of repetitions and the timing of the shot.

How it Works 

Connect your laptop and portable printer to the Goalies Eye via the USB port and use the Goalies Eye software to capture up to 20 real time sequential video images of each drill which can be viewed immediately on screen along with the data of percentage of net covered and reaction time.These pictures and data can then be either printed out on 81/2“ x 11” paper or saved to a file which can be put on CD and given to the player to review.

Goalies Eye is designed to assist the teaching of techniques that allow the goaltender to better understand when their arms, legs and body are in the most effective position relative to the puck and the net.
